He was predeceased by: his father Lyle J. McCoy; and his siblings, Lowell McCoy, Edwin McCoy (Fran) and Doris Bushong (Ronald). He is survived by: his wife Wanda Brooks; his children, Donley McCoy (Linda), E. Kelly McCoy and Michelle Kooken (Carl); his grandchildren, Michael McCoy (Nicole), Nicole Akridge (Ian), Angela Hughes (Josh), Christopher Kooken (Megan), Ashley Berry (Larry), Benjamin Kooken (Sarah) and Hilary Gerber (Aaron); and his sister-in-law Mary Lou McCoy. He is also survived by 21 great grandchildren, several loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Memorial Contributions in Donald's honor may be gifted to the American Cancer Society.
