He is survived by: his son James I (Fritz); his daughter-in-law Alice Newman of Minford; his daughter Denise Callihan (Kevin); his grandchildren, Melissa Artis (Scott) of Portsmouth, Joseph Newman (Alicia) of Missouri City, Joshua Newman (Sarah) of West Lafayette, Shane Sammons (Leanne) of Portsmouth, Logan M. Newman of Eugene, Jack N. Newman of Columbus, Nic Newman of Gahanna, Chrystal McCain (Todd) of South Shore, Sarah Hamilton (Ben) of Bentonville and Rodney Hamilton (Sarah) of Rosemount, Ohio.; and his siblings, Samuel Newman (Barbara) of Kitts Hill, Charles "Pete" Newman (Phyllis) of Ironton, Daisy "Cricket" Brammer of Rock Camp and Doris (Sue). He is also survived by 8 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren.
