He was predeceased by: his parents, Ivan Mattix and Nora Mattix (Johns); and his brothers, James, Bill, Rex, Bernard and Richard Mattix.
He is survived by: his wife Connie Bash; his children, Rhonda Grubbs (Bert Jr.) of Kenton, Shane Mattix (Andrea) of Mt. Gilead and Josh Mattix (Liberty) of Mt. Gilead; his grandchildren, Alexis, Bert Andy Grubbs, Emily, William Mattix, Ivan and Parker Mattix; and his sisters, Sue Allison (Willy) of Pompano Beach and Beatrice "Cookie" Schulz of Chandler. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
