He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry Scarr and Harriet Scarr; and his sister Nancy Thompson (late John). He is survived by: his wife Margaret "Marge" Widmar-Scarr; his children, Lynn Elizabeth Blakemore (Jeffrey Andrew), Gail Diane Scarr (Lawrence Michael Olkein) and James Lowry Scarr; his grandchildren, Robert Jeffrey Blakemore (Kimberly Ann), Ryan William Blakemore, Tyler James Blakemore, Holly Diane Burmester (Jacob Nathaniel), Laurie Ellen Kaple (Derek Paul), Stephen Paul Schade, Alexandra Jean Scarr and Brandon James Scarr; his great grandchildren, Cedar James Blakemore, Fisher Paul Burmester and Sawyer Jacob Burmester; and also, Jean Scarr and DeAnn DeNeve. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
