He was predeceased by: his wife Kathryn Gordon Cake; his parents, Leo Cake and Dorothy Cake; and his siblings, Joan Cake and Kenneth Cake.

He is survived by: his daughter Kimberlee Tackett (Brian Tackett); his grandchildren, Taylor Tackett and Derek Tackett; his son Bradford James Cake (Emily Cake); his grandsons, Henry Cake, Oliver Cake and Bennett Cake; his daughter Tammy Nelson; and his grandchildren, Emma Nelson, Rae Nelson and Wade Nelson. He is also survived by his 3 children, 8 grandchildren and 1 brother.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks contributions be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital or the Dementia Society of America.
