He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Julius Richard Gempel and Catherine Gempel (Schisler); his children, David Gempel (Terri) of Parker, CO, Douglas Gempel of Evansville, IN and Susan Rees of New River, AZ.; his brother Thomas Allen Gempel; and his siblings-in-law, Irene Goodrich of Columbus, Lynn Stout of Liberty Lake, WA and Jack Surratt of Westerville. He was also cherished by wife of 64 years, Nan, 5 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
