He was predeceased by: his mother Robin (Cottingham); and his grandparents, Franklin, Dorothy Townsend, Donald and Marjorie Tinker.

He is survived by: his parent Sidney Townsend (Bonnie); his children, Kyle Beckner, Kiersten Townsend (JayJay), Chase Townsend and Alexis Townsend; and his siblings, John Dudley Townsend, Marjorie Johnson (Steve), Carmen Townsend-Potts (Don), Rebecca Palmer (Patrick), Kelly Gibbons and Michelle Smith (Scott).

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Eric's name to Mary Haven.
