He was predeceased by: his father John Edwin "Jack" Shaffer; his brother John E. Shaffer, Jr.; and his in-laws, Gene and June Schubert. He is survived by: his children, Sarah DeSpain (J. D.) of Sanford, Matthew Shaffer of Georgia and Larry Shaffer of California; his grandchildren, Aryan Shaffer, Hannah and Emma DeSpain; his mother Donna L. Shaffer of Bryan; and his siblings, Larry Shaffer (Deena) of Bryan and Lori DeWitt of Bryan. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
