He was predeceased by: his father James Wayne McGinnis; his wife Charlotte Ann McGinnis; his nephew Michael P. Jones; and his grandparents, John, Edna McGinnis, Trevis and Anna Mae Grooms of West Union.

He is survived by: his mother Marcella McGinnis (Grooms) of West Union; his son Joey Michael McGinnis of West Union; his sister April Jones (James) of Peebles; his niece Rachael Osman (Adam) of Sardinia; his nephew Jamion Jones of Peebles; and his aunts, Treva Nichols of West Union and Billie Mae Whisner of Russellville.
