He was predeceased by: his wife Dorothy "Dot" Kitchen Hammond; his sons, Brian Hammond and Barry Hammond; and his siblings, John Hammond, Howard David Hammond, Helen Wolfe, Nancy "Teen" Gilliam and Amanda Rigsby.
He is survived by: his children, Bruce Hammond (Sheila) of West Portsmouth, Brenda Shepherd (Donnie) of West Portsmouth, Beverly Horsley (Rick) of Florida and Robert Jones; his grandchildren, Christopher Hammond (Amanda), Angela Gurka (Rob), Seth Shepherd, Jordan Hammond, Madison Howard and Rielly Carr; his great grandchildren, Audrey Hammond, Carissa Gurka, Robby Gurka III and Charlie Hammond; and his sisters, Alice Tackett (Tom) and Nora Tackett.
