He was predeceased by: his parents, Ivory Adkins and Leona Adkins (Lyons). He is survived by: his wife Gwendolyn Adkins (Pertuset); his children, Elijah Adkins of West Portsmouth, Tyler Adkins of West Portsmouth and Abbie Adkins of West Portsmouth; his brothers, Tim Adkins (Lorna) of Ocala, Florida and Chris Adkins (Rebecca) of Ocala, Florida; and his sister-in-law Lisa Walker of West Portsmouth.
