She was predeceased by: her parents, Oswell Pennington and Mandy Conley Pennington; and her siblings, Maxine Fultz, Kathleen Fugitt, Dorcas Cooper and Henry Lee.

She is survived by: her husband Charles Ernest; her children, Beverly Eckels (John) and Charles Timothy Whitaker (Tammy); her granddaughter Shay Pennington-White; and her great grandchildren, Alexa and Noah.
