He was predeceased by: his parents, James Creed and Gladys Blaine Vance (Hoosier); and his children, Donna Lynne Vance and James Leanord Vance Jr.. He is survived by: his wife Shirley Vance (Crabtree); his daughters, Karen Yount (Tim) of West Milton and Vicki Tarr (Cotton) of Galena; his daughters-in-law, Lora Vance of Dayton and Nancy Vance of West Milton; and his grandchildren, Heather Siesel (Kory) of Columbus, IN, Forest Vance of West Milton, Andrew Yount (Lindsay) of West Milton, Alexander Yount of Dayton and Gunnar Tarr of Westerville. He is also survived by 2 great grandchildren.

Visitation was held on Tuesday, March 18th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the Hale-Sarver Funeral Home (284 N Miami St, West Milton, OH 45383). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, March 18th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Tuesday, March 18th 2025 at the Riverside Cemetery Cemetery.
