He was predeceased by: his parents, Cecil V. Hodgin and Madge A. Hodgin (Johnson); his wife Ellen M. Hodgin (Strawser); and his sister Betty Shroyer. He is survived by: his children, Scott Hodgin (Laura) of West Milton and Julie Priest (Richard) of Troy. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made in George's memory to Potsdam United Methodist Church, 12 S Main St, Potsdam, OH 45361.
