He was predeceased by: his parents, Mervin A. Hostetler and Ruth Anna Hostetler (Troyer); his wife Gladys Ethelyn "Lynn" Merriman; and his siblings, James Hostetler, David Hostetler and Joan Sine.
He is survived by: his children, Peggy Wirick (Neil) of West Liberty, Sandy Knox (Randy) of West Liberty and Karrie Holycross (Phil) of Venice, Florida; his grandchildren, Lee (Laura), Dustin (Katri), Susannah (Andrew), Daniel, Alan (JuEunhae), Asher, Anna, Adly, Aydan, Dana (Nathan) and Brandon; his great grandchildren, Ava, Stella, Sienna, Saige, Braxton, Bensyn, Niilo and Henri; and his sister Joy Plank (John). He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
