He was predeceased by: his parents, William G. Cox and Laura Cox (Foughty); his sons, Michael Cox and Delmar "Dean" Cox Jr.; his son-in-law Joe Shoemaker; and his grandsons, John Adams, Matthew Cox Jr. and Steven Cox.
He is survived by: his spouse Tempa L. Holycross August; his children, Larry Cox (Judi) of Alabama, Susan Yelton (Vern) of Huntsville, Juanita Shoemaker of Rushsylvania, Judy Culp (Bob) of Rushsylvania, Deb Vickers (Greg) of Bellefontaine, Jerry A. Cox of Bellefontaine and Terry B. Cox of Bellefontaine; and his sisters, Mary E. Weber of Bellefontaine, Phyllis A. Burkhammer of Russells Point and Betty J. Cox of Celina. He is also survived by thirteen grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
