He was predeceased by: his parents, Herbert Nelson Dye Sr. and Anna Lou Haines; his daughter Dustie Lynn Stewart; his daughter-in-law Shelly Marie Payne; and his siblings, Linda Crew and Herbert Nelson Dye Jr..
He is survived by: his children, Julie Dye (Jordan Conley) and Daniel Keith Dye II; his grandchildren, Tilly Kate Stewart, Josie Marie Dye and Grayson Christopher Dye; and his siblings, Jerry Dye (Brenda) and LeAnn Chupp.
