He is survived by: his children, Sandra Gates (Dennis), Linda Bales and Michael Borders; his grandchildren, Heather Gates Saddler, Matthew Gates (Nicole), Andrew Bales (Erika), Brooke Hathaway (Ryan), Clay Bales (Lyndsey), Gregory and Kelly Borders; his caregiver Zelma Cassady; and his close friends, Marc and Leona Schmauch. He is also survived by great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and numerous friends.
