He is survived by: his wife Sheila M. Bonser; his brother James Bonser; his children, Suzanne Bonser, Tony Bonser and Nancy Madaris; his grandchildren, Marie Cottrell, Sarah Bonser, Aaron Madaris, Kiri Schumaker and Sean Madaris; and his son Cessna.

His test cell design, featured at the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum, was the foundation for modern jet engine test cells.
