He was predeceased by: his daughter Deborah Morey; his grandchild H. B. Hinton Jr.; and his sister Jackie Boldman (Don). He is survived by: his wife Christina R. Shroyer; his children, Melinda Gibson (Jim), Kent Shroyer (Janice Fleming) and Kim Dalton (Dennis); his grandchildren, Rachele Bailey, Nicholas Morey, James Gibson Jr., Jennifer Woodruff, Emily Shroyer, Megan Shroyer, Rachel Shroyer, Dennison Dalton, Kristan Dalton and Kamryn Dalton; and his brothers, Ronald Shroyer (Carroll) and Phillip (Joan).

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his honor to the Billy Graham Evangelical Association or Samaritan's Purse.
