He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas Taney and Anna Taney; his siblings, Margaret Millay, Joseph Patrick Taney, Dennis Taney and Kathleen Lord; and his grandson Timothy Kevan Taney.

He is survived by: his wife Mary Taney; his children, Kelley Hensler, Mike Taney Jr. (Amy) and Tim Taney (Jill); his grandchildren, Stacey Potts (Jeremy), Melinda Hensler, Allison Taney, Andrea Taney, Madison McCartney (Noah), Macy Taney, Mekenzie Taney and Michael Joseph Taney; and his great grandchildren, Taylor, Maizley Potts and Matilda Ackman.

Memorial donations may be made in his name to St Jude Foundation.
