He is survived by: his wife Claretta S. Slaton (Durham); his children, Todd Slaton (Heather), Bobby Slaton (Shannon), Michael Slaton, Tonya Johnston (John) and Susan Collins (Jay); his stepdaughter Robin Callahan; his sister Ruth Ann Estepp; and his pets, Cutie Pie, Olivia, Sugar and Tinkerbell. He is also survived by 22 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren.
