He was predeceased by: his father Luther Adams; his wife Ruth "Ann" (Collett); his siblings, Luther "Wayne" Adams and Marjorie "Ann" Combs; and his mother Nettie Jeanette Adams (Begley).

He is survived by: his children, Marc Adams (Shelley) of Sidney and Stephanie DiGioia; his sisters, Mary "Kathryn" Smith and Sandra "Lou" Mayabb; and his stepsons, Mike Thomas (Glenda), Don Thomas (Rhonda) and Jim Thomas. He is also survived by many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

In remembrance of John's life and love, the family asks that any charitable donations be made to Parkinson's Foundation, Alzheimer's Society, or Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society.
