He was predeceased by: his son Philip Dean Carter (Joy); his grandson Michael Matthew Carter; his parents, Alonzo Carter and Cordelia Carter; and his siblings, Joe, Raymond, Marion, Macey, Mary Ellen, Daisy, Marjorie, Elsie and Martha.
He is survived by: his wife Mary; his son Kenny Carter (Carol); his grandchildren, Daniel Carter, Tracey Wical (Randy) and Rachel Carter (Eric); his great grandchildren, Genevieve, Vivian and Fiona; and his siblings, Bill, Jim, Bob, Alice, Jane, Pauline and Donna. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
