He was predeceased by: his wife Evelyn; his son Michael David Dawson; his grandson Joseph Andrew Dawson; his parents, Archie Dawson and Helen Palmer; his stepfather Pat Palmer; and his siblings, Denver Palmer, Robert Dawson and Patricia "Patty" Chambliss.
He is survived by: his son Mark; his daughter-in-law Dianne Dawson; his daughter Karen Dawson; his grandsons, Devin Dawson (Marissa), Jacob and Justin Dawson; his great grandchildren, Aliannah and Kynlee; and his sisters, Diane Hall (Emitt) and Little Helen Parks (Palmer). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
