He was predeceased by: his parents, Gerald "Red" Herndon and Flossie P. Herndon (Hower); his nephew Eric Shade; and his sisters, Sandra Stolzenburg (Dale) and Linda Mooney (Ron).
He is survived by: his son Kyle Herndon (Cindy Cyrus); his grandsons, Mason and Maddon Herndon; his sisters, Karen Shade (Gene) and Elaine Steinke; his nieces and nephews, Mark Stolzenburg (Jackie), Lori (Terry), Lisa Lowry (Greg), Rick Mooney (Crissie), Troy Shade (Jamonah), Heather Garlock (Tony Galyk) and Holly Protsman (Chip); and also Jessica Cyrus.
