He was predeceased by: his parents, Arthur Adkins and Amby Allen Adkins; his sons, Anthony and Randall Adkins; and his brother James Adkins.
He is survived by: his wife Virgie Lee Howard Adkins; his children, Debra Woodard (Kendall), LaMara Murphy (Monroe), Charles Adkins Jr. (Ida), Bryan Adkins (Lynn), Gregory Adkins (Gina), Brenda Kight, Phillip Adkins (Tina) and Patrick Adkins (Beth); and his siblings, Curtis Adkins (Carol), Kathleen Terry (Jack), Bonnie Shepherd and Joyce Galloway. He is also survived by 22 grandchildren, 55 great grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren.
