He was predeceased by: his parents, Forest Schafer and Cleta Schafer (Heffley); his former wife Mary Ann Schafer; his daughter Rebecca Smalley; his granddaughter Mindy Smalley; and his stepson Kenneth I. Tenney III.
He is survived by: his wife Sally Schafer (McCormick) of Wauseon, OH; his daughter Kimberly Phillips (William) of Grand Haven, MI; his stepchildren, Kevin Tenney (April) of Maumee, OH and Leslie Tenney of Wauseon, OH.; his grandchildren, Jennifer Phillips, Johnathan Phillips and Mary Ann Gibson; and his sister Diana Schafer of Findlay, OH.. He is also survived by three great-grandchildren.
