He was predeceased by: his son David Tanner; his parents, Alvy Tanner and Hazel Tanner (Pfund); and his parents-in-law, Donal and Virginia Fraker.

He is survived by: his wife Wendy Tanner (Fraker); his daughters, Beth Tanner and Amy Jo Tanner; his siblings, Delmer Tanner (Constance), Dale Tanner (Rhonda) and Darlene Kneisel (Bob); his grandchildren, Kira Tanner and Dustin Tanner; his great grandchildren, Zander Tanner, Kinsley Barnes and Benson Tanner; and his brother-in-law Wally Fraker (Nettie).
