He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Tapola and Phyllis Tapola; and his brother Terry. He is survived by: his wife Becky Tapola (Cole); his daughters, Jessica Agyekum (Koby) and Shannon Mead (Randy); his granddaughters, Audrey, Autumn, Aria Mead and Aila Agyekum; and his stepmother Sandy Tapola.
