He was predeceased by: his son James Liam Gilmore; and his parents, James B. Gilmore and Verna L. Dahlke. He is survived by: his wife Lowrie Sprague; his daughter Beth Connelly (Andrew) of Rocky River, OH; his grandchildren, Christopher Gilmore, James Devon Gilmore, Ryan Connelly, Sara Connelly and Sean Connelly; his great grandchild Bowen Benjamin Gilmore; his grandson Brennan Connelly; his sisters, Beverly Gilmore Fox (Roger) of Tampa, FL and Barbara Gilmore Weber (William J.) of Northport, MI; and his daughter-in-law Dr. Dorothee Gilmore of Lisbon, NY. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
