He was predeceased by: his parents, Wilbur Ellis and Mary Wynn Ellis; his son Tim Ellis; his grandchild Kyle Ellis; his brothers, Jon, Gayle and Dale Ellis; and his parents-in-law, Reva and Herman Kern.
He is survived by: his wife Rosa Marie Kern Ellis; his son Tom Ellis of Waterford; his daughter-in-law Marcy Ellis; his grandchildren, Megan Miller (Adam) of Beverly, Kaleigh Scott (Steven) of Lowell and Nick Ellis of Waterford; his stepgrandsons, Bryan Ring (Chasity) of Michigan and Kevin Ring (Cortney) of Fleming; his great grandchildren, Alleeha, James King, Karter Ellis, Sarah Miller, Evelyn Scott and Carson Ring; his siblings, Larry Ellis (Iris) of Fleming, Jane Ellis of Fleming and Nina Turner of Marietta; and his in-laws, Janet Hottinger of Waterford, Jerry Kern (Patty) of Marietta and Donald Kern (Donna) of Marietta.
