He was predeceased by: his parents, John Ellsworth and Ruth Mae McNichols (Whiteus); his wife Sharon Sue McNichols (Shaw); his siblings, Mary Kay Murray, Regina Dovenbarger, Wanetta "Cookie" McNichols and John Mark McNichols; and his grandson Randy Wills.
He is survived by: his children, Jenny LaRue (William) of Somerset, Sheri Ferrell (David) of Dresden and Robert E. McNichols II (Kelly) of Dresden; his grandchildren, Bobby McNichols (Ashley), Scott McNichols, Andrew McNichols (Mackenzie), Cassandra Henderson and Denise Lapp (Justin); and his sister Pat Fleming (Larry) of Coshocton. He is also survived by eight great-grandchildren.
