He was predeceased by: his son Neil Hepler; and his brother John E. Hepler. He is survived by: his parents, Clair Hepler and Della Hepler (Shafer); his spouse Julia McKenzie; his sons, James W. Hepler, Jr (Debbie) and Douglas K. Hepler; his granddaughter Lauren Hepler; and his siblings, Gerald Hepler (Lucy) and Joyce H. Haupt (Perry).
