He was predeceased by: his parents, Lloyd E. Helmlinger and Ada "Lillian" Griffith Helmlinger. He is survived by: his children, Mark David Helmlinger of Lima, Thad Michael (Deanna Helmlinger) and Darcy Sue (Chad Coates); his grandchildren, Tiffany (Patrick Ferrier), Trisha Coates (Andy Hall), Amber (JT Legge), Brandon (Bryce Coates), Erika Helmlinger, Jared Helmlinger, Thea Kindinger, Tyler Kindinger and Melissa Kindinger; and his sister Sue Metzger of Wapakoneta. He is also survived by fourteen great-grandchildren.
