He was predeceased by: his parents, Gunnar C. Carlson and Vivian N. Carlson (Wickline); his former spouse Carroll A. Collier; his stepson Richard Carlson; and his sister Donna Burden (Bob).
He is survived by: his wife Helen I. Smart; his stepchildren, Peggy Deal of Spencerville, OH, Patricia Tingler (Lynne) and Wapakoneta of Frank Ickes, TN; and his sisters, Wanda Shaw (late Frank) of Waynesfield, OH, Linda Hurles (late Bill) of Fernley, NV and Mary Bowersock (late Jerry). He is also survived by 17 step-grandchildren, 20 step-great grandchildren, and 5 step-great great grandchildren.
