He was predeceased by: his parents, James Edward and Eleanor June Douglas (Dougherty); his granddaughter Kristen; and his brothers, Bob, Bill, Jack and Tom.

He is survived by: his wife Marie; his sons, Daniel (Leah), Gerald (Donia) and James II (Ana); and his grandchildren, Jennifer, Brian, Andrea, James III and Nicholas. He is also survived by his numerous great-grandchildren; and his numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial contributions in his name may be made to VITAS Healthcare-Hospice.
