She was predeceased by: her mother Sarah Bates (Vanover); her son Joseph Delmar; and her siblings, Alpha Roland, Allen Ray and Alvin Bates.
She is survived by: her children, Carol Griffith (Carl), David Bates (Donna), Lora Martin (Simon), Sarah Alfredo and Kenneth Carter (Coletta); her siblings, Joe Bates (Phyllis), Beulah Mason, Ailene Nunley and Emily Kay Cole; and her brother-in-law Ellis Roland. She is also survived by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
