He was predeceased by: his mother Barbara Thompson; his stepfather William Thompson; his grandmother Grace Lewellen; his brother Tom Thompson; and his father William Diehl.
He is survived by: his sisters, Debi Rebovich (David), Laura Hykes, Wendy Wallace (Donald), Patti Denham (Mike) and Kimberly Spahn (James); and his children, Carol Quezada (Claro), Joseph, Ben and Holly. He is also survived by four grandsons, and many nieces and nephews and friends.
