He was predeceased by: his son Jeffrey Davis; and his mother Maxine E. Davis. He is survived by: his wife Jeannine; his daughter Kelly Byers (Mark); his grandsons, Christopher Byers (Leah) and Jonathon Byers; his father James R. Davis Sr.; and his siblings, Jacqueline Hamilton (Michael), James R. Davis Jr., Carla Hunt (Charles) and Paula Jo Grubbs.
