He was predeceased by: his father James H. Gilbert Sr.; his brothers, James P. Gilbert (Kim) of Thurman and Larry D. Gilbert; and his sister-in-law Jerri E. Spencer Gilbert. He is survived by: his mother Goldie Deel Gilbert; and his siblings, Gary W. Gilbert of Vinton, Donnie R. Gilbert (Tenna) of Rio Grande and Wilma Gilbert of Vinton. He is also survived by thirteen nieces and nephews.
