He was predeceased by: his wife Elene Mayer; his parents, Nicholas Mayer and Wilhelmina Mayer; his siblings, Paul, Nicholas, Robert, Walter and Rosemary Ondrus; and his son-in-law Robert Beach III.
He is survived by: his children, Joseph Mayer (Connie) of Amherst, Dean Mayer (Kay) of Vermilion, Veronica Vanden Bout (Philip) of Vermilion, Nancy Mayer of Vermilion, Mary Mayer (David Good) of Vermilion and Laura Brown (Doug) of Vermilion; his grandchildren, Troy, Vanessa, Renee, Nicholas, Amanda, Kristen, Julie, Savannah, Adam, Joseph, Eric, Halle, Angela and Dana; his brother Lester Mayer; his sister-in-law Rita Mayer; and his friend Ron Millis. He is also survived by 24 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
