He was predeceased by: his wife Jenny; his brother Greg; his mother Reverend O. E. Rusty Curry; and his stepfather Lorain Leichty. He is survived by: his children, Steve McAvena (Legea), Jeff McAvena (Genia), Ashley Salvadore, Jr. (Scott) and Hannah McAvena; his siblings, DianaLynn Leichty and Steve Leichty; his nieces and nephews, Michelle, Michael, Amanda and Matthew; his great-nephew Corey; his grandchildren, Letea, Cody, Chris and Reyvin; and his great grandchildren, Zayden, Avery and Anzley Jo.

Visitation was held on Wednesday, February 5th 2025 from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM at the Dicken Funeral Home & Cremation Service (323 Middle Ave, Elyria, OH 44035). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, February 5th 2025 at 12:30 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Wednesday, February 5th 2025 at 4:00 PM at the Resthaven Memory Gardens (3700 Center Rd, Avon, OH 44011).
