James Thein Obituary
With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of James Thein of Vandalia, Ohio, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on January 14, 2025 at the age of 61. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Jack Thein and Judy Thein (Tobe). He is survived by: his wife Karen Thein (Kelch); his children, Jamie Compton (Chris) and Jandie Steele (Trey); his grandchildren, Cate, Callie, Kit Compton, Tripp, Charleston and Ford Steele; his brother Mike Thein (Susan); his niece Jennifer Thein (Jordan North); his in-laws, Paul and Shirley (Kelch); and his siblings-in-law, Ken (Louise), Mike (Laurie), Dave (Darla), Ed, Joe (Renee), Cheryl Kelch, Nancy Sargent (Jeff), Melanie Simon (Jason) and Marci Johnson (James).
Visitation was held on Monday, January 20th 2025 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Tuesday, January 21st 2025 from 8:30 AM to 9:15 AM at the Westbrock Funeral Home-Bigger Rd (5980 Bigger Rd, Kettering, OH 45440). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, January 21st 2025 from 9:15 AM to 10:15 AM at the same location. A graveside service was held on Tuesday, January 21st 2025 from 10:45 AM to 11:15 AM at the Calvary Cemetery (1625 Calvary Dr, Dayton, OH 45409). A burial was held on Tuesday, January 21st 2025 at 11:15 AM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Ducks Unlimited Mercer and Dayton Chapters, Dayton Lions Club, and Dayton Crime Stoppers.
