He was predeceased by: his father Norman John; and his wife Delores N. Downing. He is survived by: his children, James R. Darwood of Mamaroneck, NY and Dana C. Darwood of Columbus, OH. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
He built elaborate models of three mast wooden ships, one of which he donated for display to Homestead at Towne Center.
