He was predeceased by: his parents, Byron A. Showalter and Eva Showalter (Lare); and his brother Richard Showalter. He is survived by: his wife Louise C. Hoffmann; his children, Anita Gentry (Larry) of Van Wert, Bruce W. Showalter (Beth) of Van Wert and Christina Heldwein (Michael) of Independence, Ohio; his sister Vivian Oechsle of Van Wert; his grandchildren, Ben Showalter (Ashley), Stephanie Showalter, Ashley Gentry (Chris), Laura Gentry, Joshua Heldwein, Grace Heldwein and Bea Smith; and his great grandchildren, Kaileigh, Mackenzie, Mason, Fallan, Will and Alexandria.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial gifts to Gideons International, St. Thomas Endowment Fund or Worship Anew.
