He was predeceased by: his parents, Frank Filous and Anna Filous (Vitak); his wife Doris Haumesser; his siblings, Nelson, Raymond, Frank (Evelyn), Robert (Celeste), George (Janet), Mariann Rotatori (Edward) and Millie Sciuto (Frank); his grandchild Steele; and his great grandchildren, Lyla Spector and JD Tehensky.

He is survived by: his children, Patricia Wurstle (Mark), Dale Filous (Laura), Karen Kinsey (Dave), James L. Filous (Deana), Pamela Woodhall (Clay) and Kathy Jo (KJ); his grandchildren, Jessica Peck (Andrew), Nicole Wurstle-Farina (Sam), Joseph Filous (Angela), Sarah Spector (Ben), Jaclyn Tehensky (Victor), Jenna Kinsey, Jake Kinsey (Katherine), Katie Filous Malka (Jordan), Lauren Shaw (Hobie), Sam Filous (Taylor), Amanda Woodhall, Cory Woodhall and Cassandra Steele; and his great grandchildren, Jacob Peck, Thomas, Bridget, Christopher, Gus, Damien, Michael Filous, Sammy, Julia Spector, Mila Tehensky, Kendall, JJ Kinsey, Lev Filous Malka and Lenny Shaw.
