He was predeceased by: his father Charles John; and his brother Fred Smith. He is survived by: his wife Marlene Smith (Schafer); his children, Denise Smith Karg (Jim), Philip Smith (Cathy) and Cody Smith; his grandchildren, Shawn Karg, Jamie Karg (Keisha), Megan Burchett, Wesley Hartman, Kadie Amsbaugh (Travis), Caitlin Karg, Lucas Karg and Brycen Karg; and his great grandchildren, James and Patrick Karg.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorial contributions be made to the funeral home to offset expenses.
