He was predeceased by: his parents, Albert Wesley and Elizabeth Hannah Shaffer (Dingledine); and his siblings, Edna Ilges, Lester Shaffer, Virginia Seitz, Jay Shaffer, Emily Haddix, Jean Albert, Ruthanna Shaffer and Esther Callison.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Simon Kenton Pathfinders, PO BOX 91, Urbana, Ohio or Urbana Rotary Club, PO BOX 660, Urbana, Ohio.
