He was predeceased by: his parents, Frances Hackley Thomas and Albert B. Thomas; his daughter Vickie Thomas-Smith; his former wives, Jeannine Wingfield and Christine Gillespie; his close friend Glenna Baird; and his brothers, David, Jack, Jerry and Dewey.

He is survived by: his children, Aaron Thomas (Pattie) of Arizona, Jill Thomas of Bellefontaine and Charles Ray Thomas (Sherry) of Bellefontaine; and his son-in-law Steve Smith of Lakeview. He is also survived by nine grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
